2024 July | Ikebana Workshop with Saeko

Learn the basics of Japanese flower arranging while enjoying the serenity of the Friendship Garden and Shoseian Teahouse!

Ikebana (生花) means living flowers. The Japanese art of flower arranging has been described as being at once more subtle, more sensitive, and more sophisticated than the methods of arranging flowers usually employed in other cultures. This is so because Ikebana is an art in Japan in the same sense that painting and sculpture are arts elsewhere.

Purchase your ticket to the workshop by clicking here.

Workshop is $50 ($25 for materials and $25 for the workshop) and class size is limited. Participants must bring their own vase.

Kundalini Yoga with Mikal Vega

We would like to invite each of you to a very special event that we are hosting at the Shoseian Tea House. This is the first time we are presenting a program to reach out to veterans and first responders. We have always felt that the Japanese Friendship Garden was the perfect peaceful location to present a program like this. Although the event is targeted to veterans and first responders, everyone is welcome and invited. The event itself is free, but you must pre-register on by emailing info@glendaleteahouse.org, so we know how many people are coming and how many chairs to provide.

Our speaker is Mikal Vega, a former Navy SEAL, with a total of 22 years experience in the Navy and fighting the War on Terror. Mikal will share some of his life story and then lead us all through a series of yoga postures, breathing exercises, and tonal vibrations that he has found to be very healing for the effects of Post Traumatic Stress. If you decide to come to this event, please bring a blanket or large towel to be able to put on the grass. We will be outside under the trees and in the shade for this event. We hope to see you there!
